Abuse Ends Here

Dr. Derrick Todd is under investigation by the Suffolk County District Attorney and the Boston Police Department. Although these criminal proceedings could lead to charges and penalties for Todd, they won't tackle liability issues or offer survivors significant compensation. For justice and financial redress, survivors must file civil lawsuits.

Massachusetts law permits victims of sexual abuse to sue not only their abusers but also any responsible institutions. This includes Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, Charles River Medical Associates, and other groups or hospitals where Todd was employed.

Lawsuits Against Dr. Derrick Todd.

Over the past year, hundreds of former patients have come forward with allegations against Dr. Derrick Todd, accusing him of sexual abuse under the pretense of medical care. The allegations include performing unnecessary exams and procedures such as:

  • Breast exams
  • Pelvic floor therapy
  • Testicular exams
  • Rectal exams
  • Gynecological exams

Many survivors have reported that Todd asked inappropriate questions and suggested procedures unrelated to the arthritis or rheumatological conditions he was supposed to treat. There are also claims that he conducted pelvic exams without a chaperone, and failed to use gloves or lubricant.

Dr. Todd now faces multiple lawsuits charging him with:

  • Medical malpractice
  • Negligent infliction of emotional distress
  • Intentional infliction of emotional distress
  • Sexual assault and battery

Additionally, these lawsuits have named Charles River Medical Associates, The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and other corporate entities as defendants. The suits accuse these organizations of negligent hiring, training, retention, supervision, and oversight of Todd. They allege that these entities were aware, or should have been aware, of the abuse but did not take adequate steps to prevent it.
